The Unit 14 21 Exam Period Detox offers

A word from Leeds University Union's Bars Operations Manager...

“We wanted to provide something that was a little fun but that would also be helpful during the exam period. We also wanted to reinforce the responsible drinking message, as alcohol is not really a solution for easing the stress, so the bars team have come up with a range of alcohol-free drinks and tasty food options to boost some of that brain power and help you breeze through the revision!”

Many of us enjoy a good drink every now and again. Nobody is saying "stop" enjoying a drink; however, there are a few factors to be aware of in order to make sure alcohol consumption is safe and fun.

A 'unit' is a measurement of alcohol. It is recommended that for healthy consumption:
Women should drink no more than 14 units per week and men no more that 21 units per week.

It is when we exceed these recommended guides that alcohol starts to take its toll on our health and safety. Binge drinking is when we consume all of our recommended units in one time.

It takes a healthy body one hour to fully eliminate one unit of alcohol. There is nothing that will speed up or slow down this process. So when you sometimes feel rough or even still drunk from the night before, chances are the alcohol is still in your system.
